10th X-Ray School at HZB (LMC),18 - 22 January 2027
Thank you very much for your interest in the 10th X-Ray School!
The school will be held from 18 to 22 January 2027 at the HZB Lise-Meitner Campus (Hahn-Meitner-Platz 1, 14109 Berlin) in seminar room PT104 and will introduce participants to various X-ray diffraction measurement and analysis methods that they can apply to their own research projects.
It is primarily intended for Ph.D. students who are beginners in X-ray diffraction. However, the school is open to all interested parties, including external applicants, who wish to learn the basic principles of X-ray diffraction.
Topics covered in the X-ray School are:
- Fundamentals of crystallography and X-ray diffraction
- Phase analysis, pattern simulation and whole-pattern fitting
(Powder Cell, Fullprof, Bruker-EVA) - Crystallographic databases (ICDD-PDF 5+ and ICSD)
- Hands-on instrument training (powder and thin film diffraction)
- X-ray diffraction under non-ambient conditions

Please note that attendance on all days of the school is mandatory, as the course is structured as a step-by-step introduction with each day building on the previous one.
