Welcome to the registration webpage of the 

3rd Advanced X-ray School at HZB LMC 

The Advanced X-ray School will cover the following topics:

  • Symmetry in Crystallography (crystallographic space groups, International Tables)
  • Crystal structure databases (ICSD) and powder pattern simulation
  • Visualisation of crystal structures with Diamond 4.0
  • Whole powder pattern fitting of thin film diffraction data (Le Bail refinement)
  • Crystal structure refinement (Rietveld analysis)
  • Multiphase refinement and phase quantification
  • Single crystal structure analysis
  • Microstructure analysis

Please note:

  • To participate in the school, you should be familiar with general principles of crystallography and have practical experience applying diffraction methods.
  • The general school times are Monday to Thursday 10:00 - 16:30, Friday 10:00 - 15:30.
  • Lectures and exercises are coordinated with each other. Therefore, full participation on all days is mandatory.
  • The Advanced School will take place in seminar room PT104 LMC, number of available places is therefore limited.
