Energy Materials In-Situ Laboratory Berlin (EMIL)

Research on energy materials - EMIL is a unique thin film analytics lab at BESSY II.
EMIL (Energy Materials In-situ Laboratory) is located at the synchrotron radiation source BESSY II. EMIL combines soft, tender and hard x-ray spectroscopic methods with a variety of synthesizing, preparation and characterization methods and allows both simultaneous in-situ and in-operando measurements at several different stations.
EMIL comprises of SISSY, the HZB research lab for energy materials, CAT a catalysis lab for sustainable energy supply operated by the Fritz-Haber-Institut der Max-Planck-Gesellschaft and PINK a x-ray emission facility operated by the Max-Planck-Institut für Chemische Energiekonversion. EMIL is a joint venture between the Helmholtz-Zentrum Berlin and the Max-Planck-Gesellschaft and the primary aim of this cooperation is research of materials for renewable energy generation.
