Department Solution Processing of Hybrid Materials & Devices

Pillar 4: Devices & Protypes

We are making devices and prototypes of photovoltaic and other optoelectronic devices. We test devices under standard conditions, but also use in-house expertise for outdoor testing.

Scaling of perovskite solar cells

Scaling

One Aim is to scale perovskite solar cells from lab size with an active area in the mm² range to the full wafer size and beyond.

Perovskite solar modules

Module_big

20% on 5x5 cm² module.

Large area light emitting diode

PeLED

In cooperation with the List-Kratochvil team, we developed a process to inkjet print light-emitting diodes [link].

By controlling the drying conditions, we inkjet-printed larger area light-emitting diodes with an active area of up to 1600 mm2 [link].

Slot-die coated prototypes

combinatorial SDC

We use slot-die coating as a solution-based method to scale from lab-scale devices to larger perovskite solar cell modules. Tuning the ink constituents we achieved 20.8% PCE on small-area MA-based perovskite devices [link].

For FA-based perovskite solar cells, we achieved a PCE of 22.3% on the lab scale and 17.1% on 12cm² active area minimodules [link].

Perovskite/Silicon tandem solar cells by slot-die coating

In collaboration with S. Albrecht at HZB, we achieved 25.2% on 1 cm² for a slot-die coated 2T perovskite/silicon tandem [link].
