Department Optics and Beamlines

Beamline and Experiment Control

Our team provides dedicated support to selected beamlines and instruments within the experimental hall to enhance research capabilities and experimental outcomes. We are responsible for:

  • Motion Control: We ensure precise and reliable motion control systems, which are fundamental for the accurate positioning and handling of experimental equipment, thereby improving the precision and quality of the experimental data collected.
  • EPICS IOCs: We manage and develop EPICS Input/Output Controllers (IOCs), which are central to controlling and monitoring equipment in real-time. Our expertise in EPICS allows for robust and scalable control systems, essential for complex experimental setups.
  • Bluesky: We implement the Bluesky framework for experiment orchestration, facilitating advanced data acquisition strategies and automation. This enables researchers to design and execute sophisticated experiments more efficiently and with greater reproducibility.

Our goal is to ensure that the beamlines and instruments we support are equipped with the latest in control technology and software frameworks, providing researchers with the tools they need for leading-edge scientific investigation.
