VSR Demo at HZB - Advancing Superconducting RF Technology

Overview

The Variable Pulse Length (VSR) Demo at Helmholtz-Zentrum Berlin (HZB) is a pioneering project aimed at advancing superconducting RF technology for next-generation accelerators. This initiative focuses on implementing higher-order harmonic cavities to senable CW operation in synchrotron or high current accelerator systems.

Project Goals

Enhanced Beam Performance – Achieving ultra-short electron bunches for improved precision in free-electron lasers and light sources.
Cutting-Edge SRF Technology – Utilizing new superconducting 1.5 GHz harmonic cavities for higher acceleration efficiency.
Optimized Cryomodule Design – Developing a novel cryogenic system to support VSR integration.
Collaboration & Innovation – A joint effort involving HZB and global research partners to push the boundaries of accelerator physics.
