Through Different Eyes – A Look at Particle Accelerators, the “Trudelturm”, and the “Kugellabore”

Research is one way to uncover hidden connections. Art is another possibility. In art, emotions and subjective perception often serve as inspiration. Artist Sarah Dudley is fascinated by research and has developed her own creative approach. She visited BESSY II and the Technology Campus in Berlin-Adlershof and had conversations with some of the scientists. In September 2026, we were able to showcase her paintings in the foyer of BESSY II that were inspired by these visits. She says: “Through paintings and sculptures, I give form to the immaterial forces that shape our lives. My intuitive visual language draws on our current knowledge of cosmology, physics, and mythology.”

The exhibition took place from September 3 to October 1, 2026. The opening reception was made possible by the Friends of HZB.

^{The glass wall in the foyer also served as an exhibition space. The square painting on the right, entitled “Pulse”, was inspired by a technical drawing of BESSY II. A detail from this painting was used for the invitation. Photo: arö/HZB}
