Kekuléstraße 5

Program Energy street:

Energy Street (outdoor)

(barrier-frei)

  • Solar energy - facts and figures - How much energy does the sun provide? How much do we consume daily? How many football fields of solar panels would we need to cover our demand? We provide an overview of current figures and the potential of solar energy.

  • Cycling energy - How much energy do you need to make a light bulb or an LED light up? Find out by pedaling the “energy bike”.

  • An open air lab - Experience lab work up close! Test your precision with tweezers and gloves, and try the rotation process used to create thin layers for solar cells.

  • Take your smartphone into the lab - Scan the QR codes with your smartphone and dive into the daily lab routine via video! Follow every step – from the starting materials to the finished solar cell.

  • Sweet layers - We bake thin layers of dough, perfect them with all kinds of toppings following the different coating methods of our research and provide the necessary energy boost for young and old.

  • Build your own solar cell - With toothpaste and fruit tea, you can create your own solar cell. Measure its performance and compare it with other visitors. Who can achieve the highest efficiency in converting light into electricity?

  • With nano structure to better solar cells - Micro- and nanostructures pave the way for better efficiency in solar cells. Here, we use stamps to create tiny structures on the surface of chocolate.

  • Temple of solar cells - Welcome to our sacred temple - come and see the solar cells and modules of the future.

  • Solar Race - Build your own solar-powered model car with us, choose a light source, and dare to hit the track! Compare what is the best choice of solar cell and energy source to race across the finish line at top speed.

  • Competence Centre Photovoltaics Berlin - application-oriented research, development and transfer to industry. Photovoltaics is a key to the successful energy transition. To this end, we are developing new, more efficient solar materials and technologies, cooperating with industrial partners and thus bringing the best results from the laboratory into application as quickly as possible.

  • Optimal use of solar power on facades - consulting office for building-integrated photovoltaics
The surfaces of buildings can also be used for generating electricity with photovoltaics. We show what possibilities are available and present our consulting office for building-integrated photovoltaics.

Talk

(Meeting point is 10 min before the start at the lecture tent, duration approx. 20 min.)

  • Sunny prospects: With renewable energie to zero emissions - In order to stop fuelling the climate crisis, humanity's greenhouse gas emissions must be reduced to zero. This presentation will discuss how this can be achieved and the role that renewable energie can play. A particular focus will be on the role of solar energy. (20:00-20:20 Uhr) -> Dr. Klaus Jäger
