Manufacturing department (WI-AMAN)

The Manufacturing department is a central service for all employees and users at both HZB sites for the manufacture, repair and assembly of scientific equipment.

The 9 employees in Adlershof and the 10 in Wannsee see themselves as a central service provider for all requirements related to mechanical processing.

In close cooperation with the Technical Design department, order coordination and the users, individual solutions are developed to achieve excellent scientific results with the help of the manufactured mechanical components.

Core competences of the WI-AMAN department

The service provided by the central WI-AMAN department is divided into three core competences:

New construction of mechanical components for scientific equipment and technical systems
Repair of the corresponding components
Specialist advice for users on mechanical production and utilisation of mechanical components, as well as supplier research and advice for external production

We offer this service within the WI-HWG department, in close co-operation with the departments of Technical Design, Sample Environment and Electronics. As part of the main department, we endeavour to bring the central service concept to life so that all users and scientists can benefit from it.

Further activities of WI-AMAN

Another focus of the WI-AMAN department is training to become a precision mechanics. The apprenticeship lasts 3.5 years and is carried out in the training workshop at LMC (Wannsee site).
