Institute for Electronic Structure Dynamics
Berlin Laboratory for Ultrafast X-ray Slicing (BerLUXS)
Joint Laboratory on Ultrafast X-ray Slicing of FU-Berlin and HZB
FU Berlin and HZB have agreed to further intensify their cooperation in the areas of research, promotion of young scientists, and internationalisation in the field of developing new and unique experimental techniques. The specific purpose and subject of this cooperation is the use and further development of the UE56/1 ZPM and UE56/1 HR Femtoslicing-Infrastructure at BESSY II for the investigation of ultrafast dynamics of condensed matter, which will serve as a platform for the improved use of mutual expertise and instrumental facilities and for the development of new joint research projects.
The research objective is to investigate the ultrafast dynamics of the electronic structure in materials with complex phase transitions, which, due to their macroscopic properties, can make future electronic and magnetic components smaller, faster and more energy-efficient. The aim is to understand the microscopic origin of these properties and, based on this, to optimise them in a targeted manner. To this end, the expertise and experimental facilities of the contracting parties will be shared and further developed within the framework of the BerLUXS JointLab.
