Electrocatalysis: Synthesis to Devices

Research Assistant

We are seeking a highly motivated Master student to join our dynamic Group, "Electrocatalysis: Synthesis to Devices," at Helmholtz-Zentrum Berlin. This position offers an exciting opportunity to contribute to cutting-edge research in the development of next-generation electrocatalysts for green hydrogen production and it is ideal for students or looking to gain experience in academic research. The successful candidate will be part of a team focused on processing and optimizing novel MXenes thin films for producing catalytically active materials, as well as on its electrochemical performance utilising a 3-electrode setup.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Processing of MXenes into thin films by processes such as spray coating.
  • Conduct electrochemical Oxygen Evolution Reaction measurements in a 3-electrode setup to assess the performance of synthesized catalysts.

Required Qualifications:

  • Student Currently enrolled in a Master's program in Materials Science, Chemistry, Chemical Engineering, or a related field
  • Background in electrochemistry.
  • Written and verbal communication abilities in English

  • Funding for 12 months
  • 40 hours a month
  • Location: HZB in Aldershof
  • Tentative start date: 1st of April 2025
