This in-person workshop aims to discuss the science and the requirements for accelerators delivering bright, ultra-short electron pulses to scattering applications.

High-energy electrons are a promising probe for structural dynamics investigations with sub-atomic resolution complementary to X-rays and low-energy electron probes. Three Helmholtz centers, HZB, HZDR, and DESY, are developing complementary, state-of-the-art, and beyond electron accelerators with a broad range of beam parameters and experimental opportunities. These include a wide range of pumping schemes for sample excitation ranging from UV/VIS to THz and sample integration for solid, gas, and liquid phase materials. We welcome ideas from the research fields of life science, quantum and energy materials, chemistry reaction dynamics, correlated systems, and more.The workshop aims to form a community for groups who want to perform experiments at the facilities at HZB, HZDR, and DESY. The workshop's outcome is a whitepaper on the future of ultrafast scattering experiments - scientific needs and accelerator opportunities. The whitepaper will be worked out during the workshop and compiled as a reference document for funding agencies in Germany.

Schmerzen im Hals -/Nackenbereich und im Rücken – kennen Sie das? Sie fühlen sich oft verspannt und Ihr Rücken schmerzt? Vielleicht ziehen diese Schmerzen sogar über Ihre Schultern in die Arme und erzeugen Kopfschmerzen oder Migräne? In diesem Workshop lernen Sie, wie Sie mit einfachen Übungen Ihre Verspannungen lösen und Ihre Rückenprobleme in den Griff bekommen können. Für diese Übung wird ein Bürostuhl und etwas Platz drum herum benötigt.

Dieser Vortag gibt eine Übersicht zu den unterschiedlichen Demenzerkrankungen und deren Folgen und behandelt folgende Schwerpunkte:

Mit der Diagnose Demenz kommt auch auf die Angehörigen eine große Belastung zu. Wie verhalte ich mich, wenn ein geliebter Mensch anfängt, Dinge zu vergessen? Welche Anlaufstellen gibt es? Die Diagnose Demenz verändert die Lebensperspektive aller Familienmitglieder und erfordert eine permanente Anpassung der Alltagsgestaltung. Registration for Quantsol is now open! The International Quantsol Summer School on Photovoltaics and New Concepts of Quantum Solar Energy Conversion (Quantsol) will be held in September 1-8, 2024 in Hirschegg, Kleinwalsertal, Austria. The school is organised by the Helmholtz-Zentrum Berlin and the Technical University of Ilmenau. Applications can be submitted through the school’s homepage until Friday 31st of May 2024, 23.59h CET.

“The Quantsol summer school offers a very comprehensive introduction to the field of photovoltaics and photocatalysis and is a great learning experience and a “must attend” for PhD students and postdocs in their early career. In the past, we have received an overwhelmingly positive feedback leading to oversubscription of the school every year” says Prof. Dr. Klaus Lips from Helmholtz-Zentrum Berlin.”

The 8th International Workshop on Metrology for X-ray Optics, Mirror Design and Fabrication (IWXM) will be held in Berlin, Germany, from September 2nd-5th, 2024 as a satellite workshop of the Synchrotron Radiation and Instrumentation-SRI conference 2024.

It will provide a forum for presentation and discussion on the latest developments in X-ray optics like mirrors, gratings, reflection zone plates, etc. with particular regard to improvements in metrology, deterministic surface finishing, developments in ML-coatings, simulation of optical systems performance. Contributions from private companies are welcome.

The 5th of September is dedicated to present the achievements and results of the ongoing “LEAPS-INNOV, NeXtgrating”-project on developments for the production of blazed gratings by means of e-beam-lithography.
