Abstract:
Helmholtz Zentrum Berlin is proposing to setup a fully integrated Energy Recovery Linac (ERL) test facility called BERLinPro in order to prepare for the next generation synchrotron light source. Key to the success of the BERLinPro program is the performance of the electron source delivering a high-brightness high average current beam. This paper describes the motivation to choose a SRF gun for this task and first results from beam dynamics studies. Keywords: Electron sources, high brightness, high average power, SRF gun.
