Investigating solar cells and modules under real-world conditions

frontpage_ver3.0
Compared to indoor testing under standard test conditions, the irradiation and ambient temperatures in an outdoor test setting fluctuate according to the climatic conditions. Over the course of a year, solar systems are exposed to humidity, partial shading e.g. by snow, as well as hot and cold temperatures.

One of the main topics of our research group is the investigation of stability of solar cells and modules based on perovskites by analyzing long-term data (especially yield). We work in cooperation with other research institutes and leading industrial companies worldwide to improve measurement technology, encapsulation, accelerated ageing methods and the material itself.
With a wide range of characterization capabilities, a team with expertise on diverse PV topics and our collaborations within and outside HZB, we are dedicated to solving existing and future challenges in photovoltaics.
