School Lab

Solar Energy Research

maximum of 28 participants
grades 7 and 8:  9 am till 1 pm
grades 9 and 10: 9 am till 2 pm
grades 11-13: 9 am till 3 pm

The day starts with the building of solar cells out of simple materials like Hibiscus Tea. All of the needed materials are provided.

A presentation will explain the basics of solar energy technology and the structure of solar materials. To characterise the self-built solar cells parameters like current and voltage will be measured and a few of them connected can later power a small calculator. The exact functioning of the solar cell is worked out.

At last a quiz will help to wrap up the day.

Please bring your own lunch.
