Project PECSYS
Helmholtz-Zentrum Berlin für Materialien und Energie
At the Helmholtz-Zentrum Berlin für Materialien und Energie GmbH (HZB), research is conducted on complex systems of materials that contributes to dealing with challenges such as the energy transition. The HZB institute active in PECSYS is the Competence Centre Photovoltaics Berlin (PVcomB) headed by Prof. Rutger Schlatmann. The PVcomB offers companies and industrial partners a unique point of contact for technology transfer. Technological advancements in the field of photovoltaics and solar fuels are promoted in several joint research and development projects.
Role in PECSYS:
As Coordinator, HZB leads WP1 involving monitoring of the Project progress, providing Project administrative support and communicating between the Consortium partners and the European Commission.
HZB also participates as follows in the project:
- Leads WP2 and contributes by developing photovoltaic integrated electrolyser prototypes using silicon heterojunction photovoltaic mini-modules for possible implementation in the final demonstrator (WP7).
- Leads WP5 and contributes by developing solutions to minimize corrosion and to ensure leak tight operation of the photovoltaic integrated electrolyser prototypes and demonstrator throughout the service lifetime.
- Contributes to WP6 by undertaking Socio-techno-economic-& life-cycle-analysis of the different photovoltaic integrated electrolyser approaches developed in the Project as well as of the final demonstrator.
- Supports WP8 activities by hosting the Project website, updating the dissemination and exploitation strategy and plan, communicating with the general public.
