Project PECSYS

Consiglio Nazionalle delle Ricerche

The Institute for Microelectronics and Microsystems (IMM), belonging to the Physics and Matter Technologies Department of the Italian National Research Council (CNR), is organized in 7 Sections, located in Milan, Bologna, Rome, Naples, Lecce and two Sections in Catania (the Headquarters and at the University of Catania). CNR is part of the EU research grouping N.ERGHY.

The Institute has a permanent staff of 195 people (117 of them as Researchers) and a temporary staff including 47 post-docs and 61 PhD students. The research activity is focused on innovative solutions for micro and nanoelectronics, advanced materials and processes for smart components, optoelectronics and photonics, sensors and multifunctional micro/nanosystems.

Role in PECSYS:

  • CNR leads WP4, which focuses in the development, testing and optimization of different electrolyser with novel electrodes and membranes to be conventionally coupled to PV cells modules that shall serve as a reference to the integrated approaches.
  • CNR also contributes to WP4 by developing and demonstrating the operation of an alkaline electrolyser connected to a silicon photovoltaic module under extreme operating conditions including freezing and with low solar concentration.
  • CNR leads WP8 (Project exploitation, dissemination and communication) and is responsible for updating the project strategies and plans for the communication, dissemination and exploitation activities.
