Bids to host SAS2021
The Campinas organising team is happy to host SAS2021
Prof. Florian Edouard Meneau welcomes the announcement of the Bid Evaluation Committee with the words
"We are deeply honoured to be chosen for hosting the SAS2021 in Campinas, and we wish to thank you all."
Announcement of the Bid Evaluation Committee
The 2021 Bid Evaluation Committee, on behalf of the SAS Community, wants to thank the teams at Campinas (Brazil), Gyeongju (Korea), and Taipei (Taiwan) who worked to put together excellent bids for the hosting SAS2021. The work involved is substantial and voluntary and the future of these important triennial meetings depends upon this kind of good will effort.
All three bids attracted substantial support in a poll of 800 attendees of the last three triennial SAS meeting, but with a clear popular preference for the bid from Campinas (see table). The Bid Evaluation Committee therefore supports awarding the Campinas (Brazil) team the privilege of hosting SAS2021. We further have encouraged the teams from Gyeongju (Korea), and Taipei (Taiwan) to resubmit their bids for 2024 in time for them to be voted on by the community at SAS2018 in Traverse City, Michigan (USA).
SAS2021 Bid Evaluation Team is a joint committee of past and present Triennial SAS meeting and IUCr Commission for SAS Chairs and organisers
Andrew Allen and Jill Trewhella (IUCr CSAS)
