Access to the Lise-Meitner-Campus (LMC) - Safety Regulations
Please take into consideration that we are running a nuclear facility. Access to the Guest House is therefore restricted to officially registered/announced persons. Please be prepared to present your domestic ID card or your passport upon your arrival to the Lise-Meitner-Campus; other forms of ID are not accepted.
Furthermore, access to the campus is subject to restrictions for citizens from non-EU-, non-OECD-, and non-NATO member states. Should these restrictions apply to you, please contact the HZB User Office Neutrons at least two weeks prior to your planned visit (see as well here).
LMC-Guest House Booking
Room reservations are made on "first come - first served" basis. While guests of all HZB departments can be hosted, users of BER II have priority. For all questions regarding the arrangement of accommodation please contact the HZB User Office Neutrons or Mrs. Heike Gast.
The LMC Guest House does not compare to a hotel, therefore accompanying family members can be hosted only in exceptional cases. In the interest of their safety, persons under the age of 18 are generally not allowed to spend the night on the campus.
As for accommodation outside of the Lise-Meitner-Campus, we would like to recommend neighbouring hotels with which HZB gets special rates:
Also advisable are
- Literarisches Colloquium near station Berlin-Wannsee
- Hotel am Griebnitzsee in Potsdam near station Potsdam-Griebnitzsee
In addition, a limited number of B&Bs are available in walking distance of the campus. The HZB User Office Neutrons will be pleased to help with the arrangements - for experimentalists at BER II - should rooms not be available at the LMC Guest House.
Breakfast, Lunch, Snacks ...
The canteen on the Lise-Meitner-Campus offers breakfast and lunch at moderate prices.
|Monday - Friday||8.30 - 11.00||11.30 - 14.00|
Beyond that, snacks, coffee and soft drinks can be bought from the vending machines in the canteen, around the clock "while stock lasts".
Payment in the canteen is made cashlessly by HZB magnet badges. Each type of HZB magnet badge can be charged with money at the terminals near the entrance to the canteen. The costs of food and drink purchases from the canteen or the vending machines will be deducted from the amount stored on the HZB magnet badge. Please do not forget to unload a non-personal badge (i.e. without photograph) at the terminal upon departure.
... alternatively and/or in the evening
Several restaurants in the proximity of HZB, among them
look forward to welcoming their guests.
For the preparation of indiviual meals, small kitchen units are available in the common room on each floor in the Guest House.
A Kaisers supermarket with long opening hours on Königsstraße (bus stop Wernerstraße bus 318 direction S-Bhf. Wannsee or bus 118 direction Rathaus Zehlendorf) is available for shopping. A larger shopping mall is the SternCenter in Potsdam, about 20 minutes away by bus. Bus 118 direction Sterncenter/Nuthestraße has its final stop just in front of the entrance.
