BESSY II Strahlenschutzanforderungen

Access to radiation protection areas BESSY II for employees of foreign insitutions:

Since the start of the TOP-UP mode in October 2012 BESSY II is completely controlled area. Following requirements are necessary to get access to the controlled area at BESSY II:

  • Minimum age 18 years
  • Radiation Protection Delimination Contract (RPDC) with HZB
  • Radiation Passports, if used in your country (find a list at the right side)
  • A confirmation letter of your home institute if no radiation passports are used in your country (validity 1 year)
  • GATE registration (for beamtime member), POFSTA-registration for service personal
  • Radiation protection and safety instructions via GATE (validity 1 year)
  • Registration to the beamline via the beamline responsible, time for installation should be included

These requirements are necessary for everybody who want to get access to the controlled area. The documents have to be at HZB at least one week before your measurements start.

Pregnant or breastfeeding women, people with open wounds and people, who are missing one of the requirements are not allowed to get access.

Foods and Drinks are forbidden, also the use of any skin creams.

Please contact your radiation protection officer, he/she should know  about the radiation protection regularities in your country.
