Joint Research Group Functional Nanomaterials

The Joint Research Group Functional Nanomaterials is a collaboration between the Helmholtz Zentrum Berlin and the Technischen Universität Berlin. Our research focuses on the study of the structure-function relationship of nanomaterials. We investigate the basic function defining properties in order to enable a knowledge-based design of novel materials. Current research focuses on magnetic nanostructures. We primarily employ spectroscopy, scattering and imaging with soft x-rays for these investigations. The development of methods and instruments for the benefit of BESSY II users is an integral part of our mission. Particular emphasis lies on the use of coherent x-rays and resonant (elastic and inelastic) scattering.
